Private lessons BEFORE & AFTER Classes

4.30pm – 5pm Beginners Acro-Gym (5yrs +)

Beginners Acro Gymnastics

This class is for those who are new to gymnastics or are just starting out and need more support. This class starts from the very beginning from pencil rolls up. To ensure all students are correctly performing the moves we have an award system. This is where a handful of gymnastic moves are on a sheet and the students have to learn how to do them with teacher support, once they are confident and can do it on their own, they receive a sticker to go on their chart. Once completed they receive a certificate and a medal. This award system goes up from bronze, silver, gold and finally platinum. Each level gets harder and becomes more advanced. Not only do we to teach all our students how to correctly perform a move but also how to incorporate it into a dance routine. We work on a two-week rota, one week we will learn gymnastic moves which are on our award level system. Week two we incorporate them into a dance routine

5pm – 5.30pm Beginners Street (5yrs +)

Beginner Street

This class is where students get to learn fun baby freezes and tricks. When we think of street dance, we see diversity and what an inspiration they are. Our students are taught the basics of Street like moves such as heel digs but they are also taught how to attack the music. How to use the beats to hit moves on. We learn how to isolate body parts, bop to the beat and hold poses like a pro. Each week we aim to learn a new move or improve how we perform a move. Rather than doing different routines every week, within this class we will focus on a routine for a few weeks. We aim to perfect movements and be in a zone rather than just dance them.

5.30pm – 6pm Disco Freestyle (5yrs +)

Disco Freestyle

Disco Freestyle is a fun upbeat class where students get to learn moves such as kicks, jumps and poses to fast rhymical music. Within this class, the student will learn the technique behind freestyle moves but also how to form routines. We work on technique at the start of each class where the students are placed into two groups at the top of the room and are asked one at a time to go down the room performing a move. This could be kicks, jumps, runs or even combinations. This is just so as a teacher they can see if anyone needs extra help and support with a movement. In this class, we have students who compete in the disco freestyle world and they all have routines for these competitions. Occasionally in this class, we would on creating mini routines which could be later used as routines for competitions.

6pm – 6.30pm Contemporary (5yrs +)

Contemporary

Within this class, we learn all the basic of contemporary dance. This includes connecting to the music rhythmically and emotionally, learning how to dance on different levels, speeds, directions and how to engage with others through the use of lifts and contact improvisation. We focus lessons on working on routines mainly, but on occasion, we do concentrate on more specific moves, this could be how to get in and out of a lift in a routine. Cotemporary the basics taught in all schools, college and universities. This class will help them advance in the educational system. Martha Gramham, Merce Cummingham, technique along with other historical dance icons are still being used in the educational system now. Their technique and visions of dance are used within these classes.
